How to plan the perfect wedding proposal in Greece

This one is for my guys only!

Are you in love? Have you found the one?

Are you thinking it’s time to “pop the question”?

Are you planning a surprise wedding proposal in Greece?

A wedding proposal requires imagination, and men often find it hard, and incredibly stressful. They don’t know where to start, how to come up with the best place and the best way to propose to their loved one.

It may sound easy, but it is not.

As a wedding planner in Greece, I am here to help you plan and manage what will be one of the most important moments of your life.

I am here with your how-to manual to ensure you can make this proposal unforgettable, a moment that you will both be happy to be describing to your children in the years to come!

Here is some useful advice on how to plan a personalized and memorable wedding proposal, what to focus on during the wedding proposal planning process, what the most essential parts are, what comes after, and how to choose the ideal engagement ring.

  1. Think about your partner

It’s important to think about a few things about your partner before deciding when, where and how to plan everything.

Think about what your special someone would prefer and plan accordingly to her personality: what she likes most, her personal style, her hobbies and activities. Your aim is to make her feel exactly that: special!

The most important thing is to wait until you feel the moment is right for both of you, that you are both ready to take your relationship to the next level.

Many ladies are more than happy to offer subtle hints about the rings they like, the atmosphere they prefer, and their dream proposal.

If you are feeling lost, don’t be afraid to ask for help! Her friends, her sister, even her mother would be happy to tell you all the things they know she would love! If you are still not sure, hire a planner!

  1. Make a plan

Every girl grows up dreaming of the time that her beloved will be getting to one knee and popping the big question.

Think about the style of the wedding proposal your other half is dreaming of.

You should know what her preferences are.

Would she love a public proposal, or would she appreciate having it happen in front of your families?

Is an intimate proposal with just the two of you more her style?

Somewhere with a beautiful view as the sun sets perhaps? Or even a romantic restaurant with lots of champagne afterwards?

It’s important to have a plan. A spontaneous proposal is one thing, lots of ladies would love it, an awkwardly planned one is another, your girl might not appreciate, say, getting ambushed at home in her pajamas, if you have someone shooting video of the proposal!

You should keep in mind that she would want to look her best for this special moment too!

First, get a ring!

Unless you already have an heirloom family ring that you are planning to offer your future wife, (which is very trendy by the way), you should get a diamond ring that fits her style. Shop around for a great quality stone rather than a large one!

Remember the 4 Cs – carat size, cut, color and clarity. Make sure you get its certificate too – this ring is about to become an heirloom of your new family together!

Then, think about your proposal.

What are you going to say? Don’t go for a flat “Will you marry me?” If you have no idea of how to go about it, here are some tips.

  1. It’s not a speech, so keep it short and sweet.
  2. You can be funny, passionate, emotional or intense, but speak from the heart.
  3. You should speak about all the reasons why you want to spend the rest of your life with this person,
  4. about how she makes you feel,
  5. about how you envision your future together, and
  6. make your promises for your life together.

If all else fails, and you find yourself sweating and trembling – it happens to the best of you, don’t worry too much about it – keep it simple: “I love you, I can’t think of my life without you, please marry me and make me the happiest man alive!” and you’ll be okay!

  1. Inspiration

Are you planning a wedding proposal and need inspiration? Look no further than details from your relationship, your love story.

Here are some ideas to get inspired for your big moment:

– Tap into your favorites as a couple. Do you both love skiing? What about a wedding proposal on ice ideal for an adventurous girl?

–  your favorite restaurant you may have eaten at your first date

–  the special spot where you shared your first kiss

–  the destination of your first trip together

–  Surprise your partner during a walk on the beach.

Greece is full of beach locations ideal for a romantic wedding proposal by the sea.

  1. Wedding proposal in Greece

Greece is one of the most romantic destinations in the world, full of idyllic spots, ideal for every style of wedding proposal, the country where the winged God Eros, the son of Aphrodite, was born!

Plan a trip you’ve always dreamed of taking together somewhere in Greece. Need some more inspiration? Here are some of the most romantic places for a wedding proposal in Greece!

– Monemvasia

The historic and romantic Byzantine castle town of Monemvasia, full of stone buildings and beautiful narrow cobblestone streets is all you need for a romantic wedding proposal in Greece. This is probably one of the best spots in Greece for a magical fairy tale wedding proposal.

– Skopelos island

If one of her favorite films is “Mamma Mia”, the verdant island of Skopelos is the best choice for a Hollywood-class proposal! Can you imagine a more romantic spot than Agios Ioannis Kastri, where the wedding scene was shot in the Mamma Mia movie?

Take a look at  www.skopelosweb.gr

– Santorini island

Santorini is one of the most popular and romantic places for a truly unique proposal in the world.

Although anywhere with a view of the magnificent Caldera would be great, this place gets crowded so, I would suggest one of the private oceanfront villas and suites for an intimate wedding proposal, such as

To set the mood, think about ordering cocktails and a meal in a suite overlooking the Aegean Sea, wait for the golden hour of the astounding Santorini sunset, and make this moment really unforgettable.

Santorini Dress have also created a fabulous trend of surprise wedding proposals. You arrange for your girl to wear one of these amazing flowy dresses in a special photo-shoot, and as she is distracted by the photographer and the crew, you drop to one knee behind her. I can’t get credit for this idea, but I find it so inspiring!

– Nafplio

Nafplio is one of the most romantic locations for a wedding proposal in Greece.

Can you think of more romantic scenery than strolling around the alleys of the old castle on the rocky peninsula of Acronafplia, on top of this historic town?

What about planning a weekend escape for just the two of you to the old town of Nafplio?

For your stay, choose between a variety of cozy mansions like Aetoma hotel ,  Castelano hotel & suites,

Adiandi boutique hotel,  Carpe Diem boutique hotel

Relax, take a deep breath, and remember that this is the start of an incredible adventure, your future life together with your best friend!
